A BA shuttle flight was forced to land at MAN last night in high winds and rain with one engine. No one was injured

And a Scot Airways Dornier was forced to circle Edinburgh for two hours last night en route to Dundee whilst visual checks were made as to whether or not the landing gear had deployed following doubts from the flight deck instrumentation.

nah they were offered the ATP – as we all know ATP stands for Alternative Transport Provided they gave up and got on the bus!

Mibbe they were offered the ATP and chose the bus instead ?

Yes, BA fly MAN-GLA and so do BMI.
Types are usually either an ATP or EMB-145 (or 135 sometimes with BMI).

MAN-GLA is operated by both BA and bmi with ERJ145’s.

Of course, if an aircraft goes in for servicing (or whatever it’s called in the aviation industry), there has to be an aircraft to temporarily replace it.
Is there such a thing as a flight between Manchester and Glasgow anyway? If so, which airlines fly the route?

Most airlines have at least one spare though don’t they, just in case they should ever need it for an emergency or something?

BA do have spare aircraft though.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-01-03 AT 09:14 PM (GMT)]Yeah especially in this situation too. Ba should have layed on another aircraft to complete the rest of the journey, as it was a problem with their aircraft and the passengers were not responcible for what happened.
But as for the Astraeus incident, perhaps they took them by bus, as they didn’t want to risk carrying on using the aircraft?

Yeah it always amazes me why people get bussed to their final detinations during these emergencies. Surely BA could have mustered a replacement plane from it’s inventory ? A bit like the Celtic fans after the Astraeus incident, the ones that had nothing to do with the commotion have to endure a lenghty bus trip to Glasgow Airport because of a few alleged idiots on the flight.

I’m not sure which actual flight it was… but the evening flights from LHR to GLA are scheduled for 737-400’s on the 18:15/19:20 shuttles, with A320’s operating the 17:15 and 20:25 shuttles. (the 16:25 is an A319)

This would have been a 737 -400 or -500 right?
What cracks me up is that people fly because it is quick. An hour or so in the air opposed to about 7 hours by coach! Then they are put onto a coach when arriving at Manchester!
