Euromanx

I took a daytrip to Liverpool today, from the Isle of Man. I went out on the ferry, but was sufficently green when I got onto terra firma, that my first action was a taxi ride to Liverpool airport to book a one way flight instead of using the god awful boat again!

I went to the BA sales desk and enquired. They had seats at £98 each single LPL-IOM. However the woman said “I probably shouldn’t say this, but you’ll find Euromanx a bit cheaper and I know they have a few more flights today than we do”

Suitably stunned, I saved myself £25 per ticket by booking with Euromanx!

This is what I found…

– free seating (ie like easyjet)
– real friendly outfit
– The captain (get this!) helped stick the bags in the hold, climbed into the cabin and handed over to the stew
– No cockpit door! From my seat (row 2) I could see the flight deck for the whole flight
– All pax were onboard 10 mins prior to our slot, so we left 5 mins early

Flight time was a shade under 25 minutes, which compares to between 30 and 35 minutes with BA.

Nice smooth flight in Beech 1900D rego PH-RAT, with local stewardess and Dutch captain. Not sure where the copilot was from.

Verdict: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Cheaper, more frequent, faster, friendlier and basically, more fun than BA.

Euromanx is a proper flying experience for once!!

There is essentially a strong local market in the IOM; there just needs to be a robust and committed local operator. Emerald perhaps?

You never know!!!

Euromanx will not last long in its present form, all parties involved are very financially suspect, and the management team (whoever it is this week) don’t seem to have any medium to long term strategy at all.

Very true, but after the Euromanx pull-out many islanders were left with very little option but to use Euromanx the did, and still do on some routes, have the market monoploy, however I can see big changes on the IOM shortly!

To be honest, I don’t like Euromanx. They are a bit pricey and too downmarket for what they charge: their website was designed by a 3 year old for instance. This constant flapping about with the fleet is odd too, not exactly reassuring for the future.

I am fully aware that you know Mongu, buit many people dont understand that there is no actual airline in Euromanx – they are mearly a booking agent for aircraft operated by mainly Dutch operators.

London could sustain a 737 no probs, and other destinations like AMS could do well too, with a regional jet.

The thing with ERJs/737s is that IOM cannot handle either!

We do see them pop in occassionally, but as a regular feature they are too tricky. Something to do with the runway – it’s only 1,753m which is kinda short really. There is also supposedly a windshear issue landing on the main runway, which further limits what can fly in on a regular basis.

Apparently there will be a 200m runway extension, but I don’t believe that until I actually see construction start.

I hear the Euromanx/Rossair contract has been terminated and replaced with Denimair Fokker 50s and Atlantic Metros. All seems rather complicated now Club328/Rossair/ Rossair SA/Euromanx are all being reorganised

This hasn’t been covered before as it was announced when the forum was down

I always find IOM-LTN an odd route

Flybe will maintain the new ARJ’s and Euromanx will handle BE at IOM

Will IOM-STN continue?

Onward connections will be available at SOU

Well i’m sure a ERJ 145 would do the trick on the MAN route, and about LGW, and LTN, well would it be profitable to use a 735?
All the best to Euromanx i say, since their humble begginings, that have gone from strength to strength!

We’ve been getting the Air Atlantic Metroliner into GLA for the past couple of weeks.
