Seeing as AndrewM has had to pull out of the proposed meet on July 10th, what do we do now? Do we still go ahead for the 10th or do we move it to the end of May, the day of the Champions League final as someone also suggested? As Ren frew says we need to firm things up now for those who need to make travel plans or book time off work well in advance. As many of you who have expressed an interest in going to MAN are spotters, would the May date be better as it gives an opportunity to see aircraft you would not normally see?
For myself, either date is ok and I will travel up from the West Midlands by car so can give anyone from that area a lift. Would also be able to ferry some people about the airport as required.
What does everyone else think?

RE: AW Meet – A Review.
I am with you on that one Renfrew although May could be a bit tricky as my better half is due round about then.

RE: AW Meet – A Review.
May or July suits me as I’ve said, although the chances are I’ll be up to my ears in The Saturday Show on both dates if they are weekend affairs. The majority favour July 10th, so I’d say that has to be the one.
I’m also willing to have a minor meet in May for those who can make it. Perhaps it would drum up more interest for the July meet, especially if I can get AW World to flag it up perhaps using a picture or two I take from the May meeting (wishful thinking…?)
How about May for MAN and July for LGW or LHR ?

Or we could meet on top of the T1 car park, this is the official viewing area around the terminal. Everyone with cars could pick others up and then we can go wherever from there, best views and certainly photo sites are away from the terminal.

RE: AW Meet – A Review.
As i said earlier i think the T1 Cfe/food area wud b a good point to meet – midway between the trains, carparks and T3 and the best bit it has a viewing area – small i know but u can get mst of the movements! – just an idea!!!

No.
There is a far better Burger King though! (although the Coke tastes odd – slightly metallic)

RE: AW Meet – A Review.
A weekday is not on for me personally, but I’d like to attend if you ever decide to opt for a weekend.
I’d theoretically be flying in from the IOM – maybe everyone flying in should meet up at somewhere central, like Costa Coffee in the food area between T1 and T3?

RE: AW Meet – A Review.
I still would rather a London airport, but hey thats me just being biased.
LGW is easily reached by road, rail and air. LHR not so easily by all of the above.
LGW is the MAN of the south 🙂
Just a thought?

I am quite sure the MAN tour is just inside showing u the terminals, personally wud be boring but they do have a vantage area at the end of tour for photogrpahy and coffee!!
Lol we cud always drop MAN and meet with me on 2nd July at LGW for the day 🙂

RE: AW Meet – A Review.
All these students, you’re really making me feel old!
It looks like Thursday July 10th is going to be the most suitable. I visited the website www.manairport.co.uk and it seems the viewing park would be the best place to meet as those of us with cars can just nip round to the terminals to pick up any one who flies in. Anyway, it seems the airport offers tours to interested parties but obviously at a cost. I’m going to try and find out what’s on offer there and how much it is. Might be worth looking at?
Can anyone who is a user of the aviation viewing park at MAN let me know what the place is like and what facilities are there and the cost please?

I also think the original date (10th July) would be better. I’m also a student and end of May is a crucial time with the exams starting around this date.

RE: AW Meet – A Review.
I’m fine for either, I’ll be up there for the Champions League date, with a meeting or not and given this much advance I should be able to make any dates for the summer really.
Like Kev I’ll be driving up, from the East Midlands though and also be ale to offer lifts around the airport.
