The flights were not performing well. A combination of poor marketing of the islands in Germany and also the fact you can get to the sun for cheaper than you can get here.

RE: BA Fleet news that may interest some of you.

LH 735s operated in the summer months up to three years ago. There were Saturday charters from Frankfurt and Sunday charters from Dusseldorf, which in the two remaining years of the service became an RJ-85.
The flights operated:
FRA-JER-GCI-FRA 735
DUS-JER-GCI-DUS RJ-85

GCI and JER are still served by Eurowings and VLM to Germany in the summer tourist season. These destinations include:
Muchengladbach
Berlin
Hahn
Dortmund

A Lufthansa 737-500 used to appear every sunday morning if my memory serves me right. Saab – I have posted a separate reply to this under a new post.

Oh that is great news, I had not heard that GCI would go to a 737, all I had heard was the route was safe until the ATR72s left.
I didn’t know they would operate the 737 into GCI as it is not possible with the runway length unless they operate at a lesser capacity like they have done with the ERJ 145 a few times. Thanks for that Wysiwyg…you have made my day!

Saab – my apologies for not posting this earlier but I thought you already knew, I have known for months. My brother (a BA 737 captain) told me that he will start operations to Guernsey using the 737-500 in February (I think it was February he said). He tells me he has been practicing for it by trying to make a certain turn off at Dublin which marks the same landing distance available as Guernsey!

Just a wild guess, but maybe RJ100 flights to MAN, BHX or LCY?

RE: BA Fleet news that may interest some of you.

Will the 737s be going regional as well from LGW? As if the RJ100s are leaving LGW and the A319s are leaving regional what will happen to LGW’s few regional flights?
From my personal knowledge JER is served with a 737, however, GCI is not only an ATR72,which leaves the fleet next October. If this is the case then I know a full capacity 737 cannot fit in to GCI, so where does that leave the route?

I’ve flown A319’s on GLA-BHX routes in recent years. Any LHR and LGW from GLA have all been B737’s.

RE: BA Fleet news that may interest some of you.

Now that the A319’S have left the regional bases, does that mean that all The Avro RJ 100’s have finally left London Gatwick?
