Now I don’t know how many of you use hair stylers, but before my recent trip I tried to find out if and where I could carry them (for the female members of my family of course).
(They are basically small containers of butane)
The agent that supplied the airtickets took time to check and came back with,”OK to take, but must be in the hold, not as cabin luggage”.
Lufthansa Customer Services told me (in an Indian accent – look at their website to guess where the call centre is),quote “You may carry these, but not up the steps to the aircraft”.
On arrival at check-in we checked again, and the supervisor was called, who told us we could only carry them if they were attached to the styler (i.e. opened(!)). Spare cells (i.e. closed/sealed) could not be carried at all!
Confusion, or what?
Anyway, we gave them to security and won’t bother to try again – but the real point is that I don’t think anyone really knew what the cells were.

RE: HairStyler Fuel Cells
normally, the rules are dead simple… NO gas cannisters, full stop… dunno what the confusion was.
