Sky-Bus — Is it for real?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-12-02 AT 04:15 PM (GMT)]
You may remember a couple of months back the low cost airline supposedly being set up using the name “Sky-Bus”.

Their website can be found at http://www.sky-bus.com/ and I’m posting about this project because Airliner World January 2003 have picked up on the idea. It gets a mention on page 9 in the news column. The small bit of text reads:

Sky-Bus is a new operator that has announced plans to begin transatlantic low-cost services from London/Luton to Orlando and Portsmouth in the US from Summer 2003. Many industry analysts have however expressed concerns over the plan.

Not much news on the proposed fleet – They currently show a seating diagram of a 767-300(?) Extended Range aircraft and have just the two destinations lined up for now.

In the future, they want to fly to Hawaii and Fiji, New York, the West Coast (presumably Los Angeles LAX?) and Australia.

Can anyone actually see this project taking off? (Excuse the “taking off” pun)

RE: Sky-Bus — Is it for real?

In the present scenario it might not although jetBlue is doing quite well. And Fiji…why the hell Fiji??
