“The guy ( obviously insane) just had a TV clicker. He was reported as repeat offender.”
That is the wrong attitude to take in a situation like this, whatever it is, you always have to suspect the worst.

RE: ALITALIA HIJACK ATTEMPT
Well we have had our fair share of Hijack attempts over the past couple of years so I am not drawing to false conclusions, however by the way the media are reacting i’m thinking it could sadly, be something more sinister
I’m glad the aircraft got down safe without any major incident.

RE: ALITALIA HIJACK ATTEMPT
So it wasn’t hijacked really? A passenger threatened to do something nasty.
A British Airways flight had that a few months back didn’t it? A passenger heard two men discussing taking control of the plane and reported it to a stewardess who then informed the pilot, who then alerted air traffic control who then dispatched military aircraft to bring it in safely.. is that right?
They were arrested on landing but nothing ever came of it.

Man arrested after French hijack attempt
LYON, France (Reuters) – French police have arrested a man in Lyon after he tried to hijack an Alitalia flight carrying 57 passengers from Bologna to Paris, police and the airline said.
Italian news agency Ansa said on Wednesday the hijacker was believed to be an Italian.
The man was “apparently armed,” a police spokesman said in the central French city. The man apparently made a threat during the flight, which was diverted to Lyon where it landed, the official added.
The Italian national carrier said in a statement that the MD-80 plane was carrying 57 passengers.
The plane was now on the tarmac at Lyon airport and all passengers and crew were now off the plane, the police spokesman said.
In 1991, an Alitalia DC-9 with 130 passengers and 7 crew was hijacked over Sardinia by an armed Tunisian who complained of being mistreated while an immigrant in Italy. All passengers and crew were freed safely in Tunis and the man was arrested.
