What could be the reasosns of a cockpit window of an A320 cracking im mid-air and aircraft force to land.(IA A320 yesterday)?

RE: What could be the reason of the cockpit-window cracking?
just found out…it enetered a high-pressure wind tunnel and the window was quite old, not replaced for a long time so small cracks developed.

RE: What could be the reason of the cockpit-window cracking?
I remember watching a documentary some time ago about Freddie Laker starting up Laker Airways in the 1990’s where a windscreen on a DC-10 cracked on it’s delivery flight from another airline – unlucky or what??
I also know a Britannia Airways purser who was once on a flight where the window in one of the rear doors cracked upon landing in Palma, must ask him what actually happened sometime.
Cheers,
LGKR

RE: What could be the reason of the cockpit-window cracking?
The pressure outside the aircraft would be lower than inside, not higher.
If glass cracked during flight, a number of things would need to be considered:
1. Whether the glass was faulty in some way. (Possible)
2. Temperature extremes or severe fluctuations. (Less possible)
3. Vibration – was the glass securely mounted? (Possible)
4. Was there a fault in the mounting of the glass which placed undue pressure on it in one spot, such as a small high spot in the frame which pressed on the glass and placed excess pressure at one point. (Possible)
5. Impact from something either inside or outside the aircraft. (Possible, but unlikely from outside if the aircraft was operating at normal altitude)
6. Pressure fluctuation inside the aircraft. (Unlikely)
Could be other reasons too – anybody got some other ideas?

Perhaps there was to much pressure outside the aircraft? Not sure on this subject at all sorry.

it cracked?
dunno… there was a case about ten years ago of the cockpit window on a BA 1-11 coming off at 37000 feet. the pilot was sucked half out, but fortunately the purser managed to grab hold of him, and restrain him for the rest of the flight, until the first officer, who was thankfully an experienced man himself, managed an emergency landing at Southampton.
There’s a report on that at the AAIB website. it was due to faulty installation of the screen. but as to cracking, I couldn’t help you…
