A new no frills CHARTER airline is being setup for next summer. LOCO (Full Name – Low Cost Operating Option) is to lease 3 aircraft a week from Air Atlanta Icelandic (767’s or 747’s). It will operate flights from :
Bristol – Tenerife
London Gatwick – Tenerife
Birmingham – Tenerife
Glasgow International – Tenerife
Newcastle – Malaga and Tenerife
Manchester – Alicante, Malaga, Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) and Tenerife
Glasgow Prestwick – Arrecife (Lanzarote), Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) and Tenerife.
Flight prices will include hot and cold drinks but will not include meals. Flights can be booked through travel agents, http://www.locoflights.com or you can call 0845 124 7000. The company has been set up by CT2 Travel (Club Travel 2000). Flights will only operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
PAY LESS – GO LOCO!!!

RE: LOCO !!!
As EGNM said, they’ll be operated by Air Atlanta. Says in the first post, flights only operated Fri, Sat and Sun so I don’t think they’ll be any re-painting.
Andrew – Yours would look pretty interesting!

RE: LOCO !!!
Hi. I don’t think really starting off using a B747 is gonna help acheive anything… just cos the airline has got bigger planes doesn’t mean that all the seats are gonna be filled.
Its like that Post that I posted a few days back, the one about African Star Airways, after doing some intensive research about the airline, it emerged that they were to be an African low cost airline, and they opted to use the B747, and they went under straight away.
But who knows, we could all be wrong. 🙂 ?

RE: LOCO !!!
“Anything’s Possible!”
A 747 for low cost flights? I can’t see the problem. Flying from the UK to the destinations us British people love most and at the busiest time of the year – I reckon the majority of the flights will be sellouts and if this “Loco” company weren’t confident, they wouldnt be taking the risk.
But to call them LOw-COst is stupid. They are not particularly cheap. Gatwick to Tenerife in October for nights is £186.00!! You could go the travel agents and pick up a last minute 7 night holiday to Tenerife including flights for no more than £150.
I still believe this project will be a success though.

I don’t know whether it will be a successful venture but a thought just crossed my mind….
Isn’t Loco an old American expression for someone who is crazy?

RE: LOCO !!!
When I first thought about a 747 on a low cost charter airline, I thought it wouldn’t work but they are selling there seats 18 months in advance so maybe there trying to fill them up slowly. I thought it was a mistake but that’s what it said on the website!
Anyway, I used to fly Caledonian a lot and they never seemed to have any trouble filling up a 400 seat Tristar – They were always full !!!

P.S : I still find it hard to beleive because I sometimes fly to Alicante quite a lot and some airlines only manage to fly with a 70% load on a 737!

B747 for a low cost?? You know this might be sucesful…i mean it CAN be.

RE: LOCO !!!
I have to agree, they must be very, very confident if they’re using 747’s! 767’s are quite big also lets not forget.
I’ve just checked on BHX-TFS, the flight leaves BHX at 23:15 and costs £230 (similar to what my parents paid for a MON flight BHX-ACE)! So your going to fill a 767 or a 747 with those times and those prices!

RE: LOCO !!!
I agree with Saab, a 747 for those flights, hmmmmm.

RE: LOCO !!!
LOL!A 747 on a low cost charter flight,I can’t believe they could be so stupid!Fair enough some charter airlines use them if they need extra capacity, but come on,some airlines only use the A320 on these type of routes depending on load!
