International flights were disrupted after a hoax bomb scare closed Sydney Airport’s international terminal for five hours.
Although no details of the hoax have been released, 400 passengers were forced to leave the terminal while police and emergency services searched for an explosive with bomb and dog squads.
A Sydney Airport spokesman said passengers on outgoing flights were ordered from their planes and up to 400 people were evacuated from the terminal while police investigated the threat.
Airport officials said that after an extensive search nothing was found and they were now in the process of returning to normal.
They said arriving aircraft were now being processed as usual and departures would commence as as soon as possible. The airport said passengers could expect delays as a result of the emergency.
Flights at the nearby domestic terminal were not affected.
