RE: Picture needed… please

I think they are building an extension towards the taxiway and runway. I have heard that they need better luggage facilities in the arrivals area, the trolley is about 2 metres long in total! No joke!! Its tiny, I dont know how all the passengers from BAE146’s, B737’s and A319/320/321 get their luggage!!
Check out their webiste, it might have some info. They are also upgrading their website and now you can get live departure and arrivals through the internet

RE: Picture needed… please

Well, I think that there are still plans for the new termanal on the North Side of the airport, but I havn’t heard anything. Does anybody know what’s happening to the old one? Maybe the’ll keep the old one as a Flybe & Scilly Skybus terminal and the new one for international flights with larger aircraft.

They are also, currently building a new depature lounge, it sounds like its at the front of the main termanal, so how do passengers get to the aircraft? Maybe it’s just an extension???????

“WORK ON NEW DEPARTURE LOUNGE STARTS 28 August 2002

Skinner Construction has started work on the new Departure Lounge at Exeter International Airport. The building will eventually accommodate 400 departing passengers and will be completed in spring 2003 after final fitting out.

The first turf was cut by Geoff Myers, Exeter International Airport’s Managing Director, driving a digger. He later said, “With a third of a million passengers using the airport last year and a projected increase on those figures, we are in need of this new facility. It will allow our passengers to enjoy more space and a modern environment.”

The construction at the front of the main terminal building will consist of a concrete ring beam and slab with a steel frame and an insulated steel roof. The installation of enhanced shopping and catering facilities will follow this initial £800,000 stage which will be completed in January 2003.”

Regards

Luke

Lol, i thought you meant the aircraft on the opposite side of the field (which are harder to take good photos of), I will take photos of the aircraft, they wont be too good though (im not very good with my camera). I know where you mean though, if you continue past the hangar with the 146’s you eventually come to the long stay car park, right under the approach, good for shots!
I will get the photos as soon as possible, but that could take a while!

Minidoh, you know where the entrance to the airport is… theres like a small type barrier across it? I went straight up that road rather than turning off into the airport, and that takes you up to the British European office, well just before that there is a small hanger, and thats where I saw too of the BA 146’s.

I hope you know where im talking about lol…?

Hi guys. You are in luck, Exeter Airport is around 30 mins from my house, when I go there next I will be sure to get some photos. I know where it is, there are about 4/5 British Airways’ BAE146’s there, on the far side of the field. I will try as soon as possible, but I go back to school on Monday so it could be 2 weeks before I get t ogo there (i am a boarder).

RE: Picture needed… please

Can you tell me why the engines, were not in it? Just seems funny that the a/c was stripped of all four engines?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-08-02 AT 04:47 PM (GMT)]At Exeter? It might be in BA c/s but that is because National Jet Italia was a BA Italian subsidiary.I think its just being stored. It is still marked as G-NJIB but its registration now is G-BSXZ and is now owned by Flightline.

G-BSXZ was its original registration, however, when the aircraft went to National Jet Italia its registration changed. Now its back in the UK and not with BA anymore, the registration was changed back.

Cheers Saab but no joy Im affraid. None of these websites contain any pictures of that particular a/c 🙁 . I saw G-NJIB whislt i was at Exeter airport in Devon, when I was on holiday last week. It was in the maintanence hanger with another BA BAe 146. Neither a/c had any engines in them???

RE: Picture needed… please

Try a search engine for G-NJIB or search under its newer registration G-BSXZ.Some smaller sites may have some pictures of the aircraft in mention.
