Rude Security Scanning !!!!!

Do any of you get the Daily Mail? Well in today’s paper, it showed a new Security Device which is being installed in Orlando, Florida where passengers walk through and scan you for explosives and stuff but the person scanning you can see right through your clothing and see’s EVERYTHING – AND I MEAN EVERYTHING!!!!
I know America is trying to make their security better after September 11th but can’t they at least invent a security device which doesn’t have to see your private part’s? Have some dignity please America.
The Daily Mail interviwed some of the passengers and showed them their photo’s and all of them said they were very embarresed. I know I would be!!!

I agree with softlad that after Sept. 11 they dont give a damn, they will use anything for security.

RE: Rude Security Scanning !!!!!

I don’t know about AA, Softlad, but I was on a United flight, and some passengers freaked out when one of the engines didn’t start because the blade was jammed. They decided to disembark, and the captain wouldn’t leave unless their bags were offloaded. Same thing happened with Aloha. As far as taking off of the shoes, I’ve had this happen several times. Both at the security checkpoint, and prior to boarding the plane. It is a little annoying, but if I know I’m not carrying contraband, so be it.

RE: Rude Security Scanning !!!!!

I’ve been through Orlando Airport, so have probably been through that system! I didn’t notice it though… I was too bust looking at a female soldier, carrying an M-16 assault rifle which was almost as big as her!!!!!!!!

My family were on the recieving end of quite a few of these security measures. When we got to check in, we got singled out to have our bags searched… because we weren’t frequent fliers. So everything got emptied out, and thrown back into the bags. Then we get through to the gate when we get singled out again… to have our carry on luggage searched… I’ve got some binoculars, which she found to be quite unusual… with me being an aviation enthuisiast… I didn’t think so!! Anyway, she grabs my bino’s and knock the lens caps all over the floor… I wasn’t best pleased about that… and got worse when I couldn’t find one of them… anyway, after 5 mins of looking all around my bag, and the floor, I found it and I think she felt I’d had enough, and let me board the flight. OK, I’m now at Chicago, going through the metal detectors… and I hear “Is this your bag sir”… So I’m like… WHAT NOW???? I get dragged to one side, and told to take off my shoes, she swabs the insides of my shoes, and puts the swab into a machine… I’m worried, but intruiged! I think she was comparing my bodily fibres or whatever of me with those on my bag. So I survive that, and get home safely without getting picked on again.

It’s just like having something stupid in your hand luggage – it’s going to be seen by the people you least want to see it. If it is going to have an effect, then let it be used and stop any future events which will affect the aviation industry.

RE: Rude Security Scanning !!!!!

After Sept 11th you can understand them going over the top. However what i dont get is in the U.K any person checks a bag in and then dont turn up at the gate the aircraft wont depart till that persons bag has been found and taken off.Dont know about other US carriers but i recently flew with AA and 4 passengers did not turn up.The Capt decided to go with the bags and not the passengers ? To me that makes no sense at all ? At most airports not all bags are screened so he had no idea what might have been in them ???? As im writing this it turned out o.k but you never know.

Regards,

Lyndon.
