I just got back from 4 jumpseat flights!!

Hey guys! I flew with GO airlines on these flights in these aircraft:
Stansted-Bilbao B737-300 G-IGOH
Bilbao-Stansted B737-300 G-IGOH
Stansted-Alicante B737-300 G-OFRA
Alicante-Stansted B737-300 G-OFRA

It was amazing. I really enjoyed it!! I am very gratefull to GO! I have heard now that I got in just in time because from the 20th August, the CAA will issue a new legal thingi saying that absolutely no one is allowed in the cockpit exept CAA officials! Not even other staff or family!! It is a shame to see aviation take its toll lately. I spoke to some of the guys in the office at GO and they said that Easyjet and Ryanair and GO themselves were destroying the image and reputation of pilots. They fly them to the maximum legal amount and push the planes to their limits. Its sad, even the GO employees were saying that they wished low cost airlines werent low cost and that the pilot could fly 2/3/4 times a week instead of 3 flights every day!
Anyways, I wont cry just yet, I need to get my camera developed!!!
Cya!

Good for you u waspie.

I am so annoyed at these new rules about #####-pit visits. Yes I can see the common sense behind it following the attacks but, for us dedicated aviators…its pants!

When my flight was delayed at Kos last year (JMC Air) the pilots ran out of operational hours whilst on the ground (or didnt have enough to return) and we had to be hoteled for 12 hours. So in answer to the question ‘what happens if the crew go overtime whilst at the destination’ well…with me…they stopped there!!

RE: I just got back from 4 jumpseat flights!!

That was precisely the case with the KLM pilots in the Tenerife disaster back in 1977. The flight was delayed because of the fog, and they only hadd a certain amount of time to takeoff, and were under pressure from management to do so, I believe. Had they waited longer, they would have had to stay there overnight. Eventually they were rushed, and decided to take off prior to ATC clearance. The rest, as they say, is history…

The CAA made the law and they are fine with it, but the pilots cant stand it! bmi have just told their pilots that in september they will have huge changes and many more flights with a smaller salary. If the flight is delayed it doesnt matter, I saw how they cope with it in the office. What happens is that only flying time counts, so you could be flying to Heathrow from Alicante and be delayed for 5 hours, with a flight time of only 2 hours and you would have only been flying for the 2 hours which count. If the pilots are meant to be on another flight and they arent there in time, the GO office would then ask some other pilots if they could do it. Most of the time they say yes because they all know eachother and they are all friendly, but when the easyJet people move in, it wont be the same story (they hate eachother).

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-08-02 AT 05:17 PM (GMT)]Waspie,

Lucky B#st#rd!

If the CAA feel that flying that much is too much then wouldnt they decrease the time allowed flying from 8 hours to say 6 or 5?

What happens and a flight is delayed and the pilots does more than 8 hours and doesnt have time for return flight?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-08-02 AT 04:42 PM (GMT)]Thats cool…..nice to see you enjoyed your experience. Pilots if flying 2-4 times a day even in a low cost and short routes are being exhausted. A pilot should fly once or twice every 2 days, they should not be rested more than that also, pilots are best near there machines otherwise there skills might get a little rusted.
