I thought it would be a good idea to create a thread where we could collate information and experiences about long haul charter flights, with the aim of seeing who we think are the best at the end of it all.
My only long haul charter experience was last year on an Airtours A330 to Cancun. I have to be honest that despite a lot of the negative comments I have read about the Airtours service on the A330, I loved it. We were sat in the part of the plane that had 2-x-2 configuration which is great if you’re travelling as a couple. The downstairs loos were certainly ‘novel’ and I loved the viewcam from the cockpit on the PTV’s. We did a stopover at Glasgow in low cloud and it was fantastic to finally see the runway approaching – an experience you don’t usually see as a passenger.
My next long haul flight is in November on a JMC A330, then, I’m planning on a holiday next year which will take me on BY 763.
Can we have all your comments here please, particularly those that give your opinion as to which is the best charter airline & aircraft at providing long haul services.

RE: Charter Long Haul Services
2 years ago, we flew to Porlamar (Margarita) from Manchester with Air2000 on a 767 , seating config was 2-4-2. We were seated in a 2 & although worried about the space beforehand, it was actually surprisingly comfortable. The service was great, and wouldn’t have any hesitation in flying Air2000 again.
However, the same could not be said of (Sc)airtours with whom we flew to Antigua about 7 years ago – a 9-hour flight turned into 15 hours, and was just the absolute “flight from hell”.

Incidentally , the flight had a stop-off on either the outbound or inbound flight (which seemed to vary from one week to the next) at St Kitts. I don’t think Air2000 offer that flight any more – seems that you now have to fly to Antigua & change onto LIAT for a short hop to St. Kitts…
