BA's long haul 767's

Just looked at BA’s website and noted that they still operate long haul 767’s out of Heathrow.

I’m particularly looking at their Nassau flight which is around 10 hours long.

Are BA still planning on retiring their long haul 767’s?

What is there standard configuration on these aircraft; presumably there are no PTVs?

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks in anticipation….

RE: BA’s long haul 767’s

Some interesting posts. When I was flicking through the holiday brochures earlier in the year they were saying as part of the World Traveller scheme BA had seat back tv’s on all their 777’s and were due to complete installation on all 747-400’s shortly. Didn’t mention 767’s so maybe this was never intended?
2-3-2 layout sounds nice. I flew Manchester – Phuket return via Abu Dhabi on Britannia in 2000. They use 2-4-2 which is absolutely awful for a flight involving two 7 hour sectors. Plus it was a freezing cold and drafty flight!!

No there are no PTV’s in economy. But the 767 is comfortable for long haul travel, and because it is a 2-3-2 layout you do get alot of room.
Try for an upgrade at check in. The flight will be oversold they normally are on Carribean routes. And if you are lucky you may get a 777 on the route and not a 767 but who know’s?

RE: BA’s long haul 767’s

ahh… good to see the lay out.

My first transatlantic flight was on a BA 767-336ER. I got upgraded, too, because of the Cabin crew strike (it was in July 97) to Club World (it was the one on the left, without the First cabin). I was supposed to be flying LHR-SFO (744), but instead flew LGW-PIT on the 763 (and then US Air 752 PIT-SFO).

My allocated seat was 2J, but I was asked if I minded moving for some colleagues travelling together, so I got seat 1F.

There was definately a PTV in Club World… there wasn’t in sardine class. But then, in ’97, no one had PTV’s in economy…

I agree T5, I thought PTV’s were part of the world traveller package but I’m not sure if they’ve updated their 767’s with them.

Can anyone confirm this?

RE: BA’s long haul 767’s

Sorry…

It would seem it is a 2-3-2 configuration which means that they’re not cramming in too many seats and so it’s a pleasant flight.

I must admit, I thought the deal with being a “World Traveller” a.k.a. economy was that you got your personal TV screen?

RE: BA’s long haul 767’s

767-300 is usually 2-4-2 configuration. Their website usually has seating plans for this their aircraft, I’ll dig one out for this aircraft and post it.

If the 767 can fly long haul though, why not use it? It’s a great aircraft and used by all the charters for routes to the Caribbean. I flew 10 hours on a 767 in April.
