BA and 'Jetiquette'……

In preparation for the holiday season, BA has been consulting with passengers on European flights to find out just what annoys them most when flying. As a result of this feedback, listed below, the airline has produced five relevant tips to ensure that everyone has a stress free journey to the sun.

1.Appreciate your own personal space and others will appreciate yours
46% of passengers hate it when people encroach on their personal space with elbows and legs.

2.Don’t make others feel left out.28% complained about couples kissing and cuddling indiscreetly next to them

3. Don’t tell your life story to the person sitting next to you
12% of holidaymakers can’t stand it when a complete stranger engages in lengthy conversations about themselves.

4. If you are listening to a CD player please consider those around you and keep the volume down to a level where only you can hear it
10% of those asked said that loud CD players annoyed them the most.

5. Don’t shout.4% of holidaymakers felt annoyed by fellow passengers yelling at family and friends across the aisleway.

A British Airways spokesperson said: “We are always looking at ways to improve the experience of flying and so we felt our customers’ feedback would be a good starting point. Thanks to their feedback we’ve put together a little checklist that should mean that everyone will have a more enjoyable time, getting their holiday off to a flying start”.

RE: BA and ‘Jetiquette’…… tongue in cheek time, me thinks…

After working many years with BA I can see your point, but the points they raise are quite true, there has been many a flight I have been on when someone will start chatting to you for no reason while you are reading a book, or people listening to walkman’s pretty loud at 3am on a LHR-SIN or HKG sector when everyone is asleep or trying to relax.

But I agree with you about the food, it has got progressivly worse, especially the egg mayonaise roll on the MAN-LGW shuttles, there are only so many you can take!

With student discounts… well why should they have a discount and a unemployed person/disabled person/single parent not have a discount as well. if they get 25% discount that’s good, but there are alot of other people out there with worthy causes as well. It used to be a while ago that if you flew domestically it was pricey, but with low cost airlines and maniline carriers realising now that there is a big potential market where people do not want to go by train or drive they have reduced the fares.
I have a mortgage, child, bill’s, like every one else, why can’t I get a discount?. Students made a decision to go to uni/college for year’s knowing that it will be a hard graft and with money problem’s in between which can bring stress, but that’s life.
At the end of the day people who go to uni/college should hopefully be on a lot more money than I will be and make a better life for themselve, and I know the age old “Yes but i got student debts of XYZ”, so have alot of people, it’s called a mortgage.
I know i have probably have opened a can of worms now, and i don’t mean to some condesending, I am just putting my opinion across, needless to say someone will probably have a go at me now!

(By the way I have nothing against student’s)

RE: BA and ‘Jetiquette’…… tongue in cheek time, me thinks…

hmmm… here are my five tips for BA to keep in mind, then 😉

1. Get rid of the doggie bag ‘All Day Deli’. 100% of Cabin Crew I’ve mentioned it too haven’t liked them, and hadn’t heard positive feedback from Passengers, either.

2. Try and deliver the Passengers luggage. On 40% of my flights transferring at Heathrow over the last three years, my Luggage has arrived the following day.

3. More legroom. Although BA’s fleet have 31 inches in Economy, they’re only just ok to sit in. BA regional’s fleet have 32 inches… Why more room on shorter flights? (these figures are taken from this month’s highlife inflight magazine.)

4. Get your WAP service sorted out. 95% of the time, it dosen’t work. And the options avaliable suck.

5. Cheaper flights for students, and 100% of Air miles for them, not a paltry 25% for having a discounted ticket…
