I am trying to work out what type of aircraft I flew on as a child and wondered if you could help.
I was about six years old in the Summer of 1981 when I flew from Manchester to Bulgaria on Balkan Airlines.
Now there can’t have been many flights to Bulgaria back then, just as there aren’t many today so can anyone tell me the likely type of aircraft I flew on back then?
Thanks in anticipation.

Would of been a 757-2, I think 737’s started in the 90’s, the 757 would be in the G-BIK series.
Hope this helps.

RE: A trip back to the archives
Any one got any idea what a/c BA used on the GLA-LHR shuttle in ’85? Only flight I’ve been on that I’m not sure about a/c, and it was my first flight, too… I went on to CDG after, on a Tristar, and flew direct back to GLA from CDG on a 1-11.
Could it have been a 757? must have been either a 752 or a 732, I think, unless they still used the trident in 85? maybe? anyone?

AndrewM, which airline was it? I would probably say a Dash8 or Shorts-360. More likely the Dash 8

Pembo,
It is highly likely that it was a Tupolev TU-154 that took you to Bulgaria and back They were very common visitors to Birmingham (BHX) which is not too far from where I live.
If I remember rightly the registrations of these aircraft were in the LZ-BT? series. Hope this helps.

I have one:
I flew during 1997-1998 on Belfast City to Bristol or Birmingham. I know Birmingham was a BAe 146 but I cant remember wht the Bristol one was. All i can remember is that it was a Turbo Prop.
