I saw this today on the Ananova web-site;
Jade tells of experience on double-decker plane
Big Brother’s Jade has told the other housemates she visited a downstairs toilet on an aeroplane.
Alex and PJ told her there was no such thing as a double-decker plane.
But the dental nurse was adamant she’d gone down a flight of stairs during her trip to the Dominican Republic last year.
An incredulous Alex asked: “How old are you? How much had you drunk?
“Stairs involve going to other floors. I’ve literally gone on every plane there is. If you go downstairs you’re walking into the f***ing luggage compartment.”
“We went down,” said Jade. “I swear to God.”
She said she remembered a perfume cabinet and that the walls of the toilet were light green.
“You had to strap yourself in,” she added, prompting laughter from the other housemates.
Alex suggested Jade have been “delusional” or that she “might have had a mild blood clot”.

As much as I dislike Big Brother contestant Jade, I suspect she is right in what she is saying – seem to recall Airtours opted for below deck toilets on their A330’s to maximise seats. Assume they can do this as less likely to carry a full cargo load
Believe Airbus have reported no scheduled operators have taken up this option as yet.

Don’t worry, the crazy cow will be up next week…
The A330 os Airtours has 5 downstairs toilets below row32 I believe. I travelled AIH in March/April and was in about row 37 and did not visit the toilet once in the 10 hour crossing. I’ve got a safety card with a plan of the arrangement somewhere, I’l dig it out and scan it in.
Airtours actually brag about being the first airline to use below-deck toilet facilities.

RE: Double decker plane banter
I despise Jade but on this instance i have to agree. I was on an Airtours 2 years back and my brother has been on it 2 weeks ago as MYT. I was an A330 and it does indeed have downstairs toilets (5 i believe). Sorry but they obviously havent been on this aircraft. Jade may very well have a mild blood clot, looking at the front of the sun yesterday i believe that she has.

Probably an MYT A330.Dominican Republic is a typical charter destination for the them so my guess is the MYT A330.T5,didn’t you comment about the below deck toilets on your trip report a while back?

I hate BB altogether, we have it here in OZ as well.
Anyway, my guess is that she was on a B747 and that she was sitting in the Hollywood seats (up starirs behind the cockpit), this would keep her away from the other passengers who would make a fuss over her (God knows why).

Il 86s do have lavoratiries under it…so does the B747. There have been 2 cases of these lavs. being used…one was in a Il 96 and one on Angolan B747.

RE: Double decker plane banter
IL-86’s have a down stairs compartment. In fact, it is used for boarding at airfields with no jetways, and they even have stowage for carry-ons down there, as well. Not quite sure if they had lavs down there, or not.
