I am trying to get information about VS fleet. At VS web there´s a chart with registrations, name and configuration. So according to what I know….12 B747-400, 10 A340-300 and a couple of A340-600. No information about B747-200 classic.I know there are the following ones one at the fleet…G-VIBE, G-VPUF, G-VBEF, G-VSSS and G-VZZZ. Anyone of these has been phased out?. Anyone has the configuration of these ones?. I know they´ve got the G-VATH called Hellenic Beauty (A321) but I don´t know if it´s still in service and what is it used for?. Athens?. HELP…..

RE: Help on Virgin fleet
I think that a few of the 747-200s were sold to Kabo Air of Nigeria.
As for the TF-ATW 747-200 which was sold to Air Atlanta:
I might just add an accountant’s perspective here:
Assets which are sold and leased back are always retained on the Balance Sheet, as if no transaction took place. This is because of the “substance over form” concept. Techinally, this aircraft is still an asset of Virgin, irrespective of precise legal title. This is because it is seen as a loan from Atlanta, which just happens to have been secured on a 747. If the situation remains the same at Virgin’s year end, this aircraft will be included in their accounts.

RE: Help on Virgin fleet
What about the ex-NZ 747-219’s with the RR engines that Virgin had recently, are those gone too?

RE: Help on Virgin fleet
All 747-200’s were phased out, TF-ATW is leased from Air Atlanta and used on the MAN-MCO route as said above.
This aircraft is in full VS colours with VS seats and the Arcadia entertainment system with Nintendo games etc. The flightdeck crew is from Air Atlanta but other crew are VS, I flew on it in early May.

RE: Help on Virgin fleet
The funny thing is that from the press department they hide or at least they are not eager to assume that they have B747-200 in operation, something which is not right. So I hope I could get extra information somewhere.

RE: Help on Virgin fleet
From what I’ve heard from fellow greeks that have flown Virgin in the past, they do not serve Athens anymore. They usually had one dedicated aircraft on the LHR-ATH route. It used to be G-OUZO (Ouzo being a very popular Greek liquer) and then it was, as you mentioned, G-VATH. I don’t know if this is a temporary move, or not. I don’t know why it would be, especially now in the peak season. I’ve never flown Virgin but from these people that I know that have flown it, they’ve loved the service, meals, amenities, etc.

RE: Help on Virgin fleet
I think G-VSSS is now TF-ATW with Air Atlanta but operates in a Virgin
c/s on the Manchester-Orlando route.
