[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-06-02 AT 12:49Â PM (GMT)]If you push the left rudder pedal forward and then the right one comes back towards you, should you turn left or right and the vise versa? If it is different for different planes which is correct for Boeing 739NG?

I use the ailerons and a bit of flap. And guns.

.
There is nothing wrong with twisty sticks. I have used the MS Sidewinder Force Feedback for a number of years (the first version). In fact, when I moved to rudder pedals it felt really clumsy (I thought the transition would be a piece of cake as I fly IRL). Now I am used to the CH pedals I would not go back, but the twisty stick was a great compromise and far better than using the keyboard and the price was right too.

Twisty sticks aren’t very good, you end up twisting them when you don’t want to!
Depends what you are doing. I find they are fine for combat sims.

Twisty sticks aren’t very good, you end up twisting them when you don’t want to! I have a “rocker” on my throttle which works quite well, but I’m not sure they still sell my joystick combo…

Strangely I’ve never come across a twisty stick in my local gaming establishments (which is bone), but I think I’d prefer the relative realism of pedals! 🙂

Of course, a twisty stick is the cheapest option. Personally I use the CH Pro predals (USB) and I am very happy with them.

They worked with me!!!
Good Luck, though!

Daz, if you’re on a budget then you could always make your own, not so difficult and cost you under £20.
You will find all you need to build a set here: http://www.mikesflightdeck.com/.
CH pedals are very good, I’ve had mine for a couple of years, still going strong.
By: DazDaMan - 21st September 2004 at 13:04
I had thought of that but wasn’t sure if it would work at all.

Um you COULD try some steering wheel racing pedals. They tend to cost less, and in my experience could be programmed to act as rudder pedals. And you could sell the actual steering wheel as the pedals work off a seperate game port. Give me a while and ill try to dig out some info…

Thanks for that. I’m really looking for something that’s not hideously expensive, and is suitable for combat flight sims.
Trying to get a Griffon-engined Spitfire to track straight on take-off is something of a nightmare!!

Yep I agree about CH Products and bear in mind £124.95 is the usually retail price.
I would strongly suggest you come along to the Birmingham Flight Sim Show, www.fs-show.com, as there will be around 5 or 6 different types of rudder pedels on show including the CH ones and you may find the, slightly, more expensive ones may be a better feel or fit.
Also RC Simulations have a big sale at the Show with pedals reduced in price (cant remember but was a bit off last year from me old memory!)

I’ll have them! 🙂

£114 from www.rcsimulations.com 🙂 (Im in no way affiliated to rcsimulations 🙂 )
the CH Product USB one is the best

Ummm…. can I have a ballpark figure then?! 😀

how much have you got to spend Daz?

RE: Rudder Pedals
well yeah, by convention they have to turn the same direction, as you push, but what happens when you Yaw an aircraft:
An airliner
A fighter
A Glider
THESE different types/classes all show different secondary effects of control- whilst having the same primary effect of control in the yawing axis……

RE: Rudder Pedals
If you push the left pedal forward then you turn left.

RE: Rudder Pedals
They’ve all got to be the same! Left is left and right is right. Anything else would confuse the pilots!!
