I’ve just ordered my tickets for the Farnborough Air Show in July. I was extremely excited but as my main interest is Commercial Aviation, I was disappointed with the line-up. There is a 737, a couple of Dash 8s and some ATR-42s, but otherwise nothing spectacular. If you’re into military aviation, it’s gonna be brilliant (but I’m not).
Check out http://www.farnborough.com/aircraft.htm for the latest events happening at the show. It was updated May 24th and is subject to change.
By the way, anyone else going?

Links Heathrow to Reading Railway station, from here, get the train to Farnborough North. There are no services to Farnborough Main from here, but F. North is only a 15-20 minute walk away and simply ask for directions as you go along…

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-05-02 AT 11:00Â AM (GMT)]I will be travelling to Heathrow now with bmi for it so got any info for me to get to Farnborough apart from coach as I have looked on there site and the last coach is when we get into Heathrow @ 1015!!! There site is very vague on travlling details! All the site seems to do is list the aircaft at the show!
Any other shows in the UK??

I’m not one for military aviation but I’ve really been looking forward to this, regardless of what’s on show – a 737 and a couple of ATR42s are going to have to do! I’m just so glad I’m going this year!

RE: Disappointment to say the least
Farnborough has always been a more military slanted show, but you have the EMB170 making its European debut and your be able to surf the net from inside the Connexion 737 🙂
Airbus will be there and a delivery of a new aircraft is planned for the show 😉

RE: Disappointment to say the least
Farnborough has two railway stations; Farnborough and Farnborough North. It is Farnborough which is closest to the event and this is on the London Line.
If you were to travel to Reading, you could connect onto a Thames Train/Network Southeast and get off at Farnborough North. This is the Gatwick Airport train so don’t be tempted to stay on and go to Gatwick instead! 🙂

RE: Disappointment to say the least
Farnborough is roughly halfway on the train line from London (Waterloo) to Southampton (about 40 minutes to either). If you want to fly low cost, it’s probably easiest to fly easyjet to LGW, add change at Woking, Clapham or Guildford. There’s also a bus link from LHR to Woking, whence trains run to Farnborough. If you go to any of the low cost hubs (ie Luton or Stansted), you’d have to cross Central London, and, let’s face it, that’s way to much hastle.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-05-02 AT 08:19Â AM (GMT)]What about all the lovely Bombardier? I am lucky, i know the Vice-CEO and get loads of free rides from Belfast City!
I am going to plan to go now cos never been to a airshow before! Where exact is Farnborough and what airports is it near to? Any served by easyjet or go perhaps?

RE: Disappointment to say the least
That sounds a bit pants. couple of years back (i think it was) was impressive with the A340 and the B767.
Sounds like the only thing that would lighten that weekend up would be a ride on the 737!
