Leeds is alrite – the Cemetry at the end of 14 is prob the best nowadays, although u can stand by the tunnel (lack of parking facilities) or make u’re way onto “Spotters hill!”

RE: UK Airports 4 spotting:

Manchester is without doubt the best airport in the UK for getting close to the action, with a lot of movements too. The viewing park mentioned above is very good and there are great views available near the new runway.

Birmingham isn’t bad either, there are a couple of good spots there, but not as good as MAN.

See the guides on my web site for more info:

RE: UK Airports 4 spotting:

Hi mate

Manchester has good facilities for viewing, it has a special viewing park (you pay) but you get good runway views. At Humberside you can park along a minor road where you get good views, not loads to see there but during the summer months they have various charters to the Med.

My Local airport is Liverpool. In the new terminal you get a good view of the apron, but I prefer being outside if I have a choice. It is possible to get to either end of the runway. If you go to the western end (09) you will need to go into Speke Hall (NT) this is worth going to anyway, but you get very good views here from a raised embankment which looks over the river and the runway. There’s also a great tea-room where you can get something nice to eat/drink and walk right upto the airport fence. On a nice sunny day its very pleasant. We have quite a lot of movements these days (expect a lot of the orange variety !), plus Ryanair, Manx (now BA) and quite a few charter movemts, Monarch and Britiannia have based aircraft.

RE: UK Airports 4 spotting:

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-05-02 AT 04:49 PM (GMT)]GCI is great for spotting though unfortunatley not that busy.As our airport is in the countryside viewing is accesible from the north, east and west of the airport. The areas are very close to the actual runways/taxiways and apron which is great for taking down registrations and photos. There is also a viewing terrace on top of GCI east terminal which gives very close views to the Aurigny stands.
Also the spotting at GCI is very friendly. There is a group of us who meet up and chat about aviation in general around the C.I.,we give each other tips on what to watch and any special flights coming in.
