What is the minimum instrumentation in a hyperlite ?

I have been for several years now designing a 45 kilo electric aircraft. I asked one customer what kinda instruments do you prefer on it ? He answered he need only his iPad with GPS app on it.

Is that enough in an open cockpit 40 km/h stall speed aeroplane ?

45 kilo AC 1/6 scale model plans are advancing ( flyweight 600-700 gramms ).

This ( 1:1 scale model eventually ) will weigh exactly ½ of what the SOLAR CHALLENGER weighed and has 1/4 th the drag and double the panel efficiency !

I am going to fly an R/C model of this HIPPIÄINEN this summer !

I can provide plans for an 1/6 scale model for very low price.

Surely the answer is obvious…of course not.:highly_amused:

What if the ipad fails.??

Paragliders have a GPS only as well. Maybe altitude indicator.

I once went to fly with a friend on his KOLB ultra ( pusher )…first on take off the speed indicator ceased to function and then we lost forward vision due to foggy wind screen.

I figure it is possible to fly without any meters in VFR rules a 45 kg open cockpit plane.
