Quick Survey, Please?

Hello, everyone of the aviation world! I am taking an engineering class in my high school where we have to find a problem in the real world and figure out a way to improve it. First, we have to make a survey to see whether or not there is a real demand for what we want to try and fix/improve.

So, if you could take a few seconds and fill out this quick survey, that would be greatly appreciated!

There’s a Wankel in the new e-go (Fifty thousand quid for a slow, non aerobatic, single seater)

Have done it for you from an Engineers point of view. As Mr Merry says. It really needs a big engine with the power output to take advantage of it as it will need an additional gearing in it and a big hub to house it all, retrofitting it to a light piston would be difficult and very expensive if not impossible as it would throw the centre of gravity out. Additionally as stated cost would be prohibitive on the light side of things.
These days people are looking more towards Diesel engines as retrofits, but even that is an expensive option.

Interesting thinking to come up with the question, nice one.

Feasibility wise yes it could be done but as a retro fit it would be too expensive, the retro fit would cost more than the a/c is worth.

With a brand new light a/c again cost comes into it again, plus weight and complexity, service and spare part costs.
The engine power of general a/c is not that high so wouldn’t be practical, as power goes up it’s better to go for 2 blades to 3 blades props, more blades on a prop is used to transmit the power into proformance, if it isn’t a huge power out put less blades are needed.
As the old saying goes is KISS,
‘Keep it simple stupid’

Not suggesting you are stupid but you have to think why they were never a success, or as some would argue limited success.

Yes, mainly for just general aviation aircraft.

(Sorry, the survey was kinda thrown together quickly.)

One question Joe, is the survey about light aircraft singles such as Pipers and Cessnas etc? Just the survey is a bit general.
