Piper Colt crash circa 1961

Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help me find details of the accident in which a Piper Colt, that was based at Staverton Glos, crashed killing the pilot, a Mr Tuck.
This incident happened around 1961 or 1962. There might have been a woman in the aeroplane and she might or might not have survived.
When I was working for Classic Aeroplane Limited in the 1980s the older engineers remembered the crash and the pilot’s name, but I can find no details
of it via the world wide web. The pilot’s son was my best friend at Selsley school but moved away at some stage so we are no longer in touch. I am writing up some memories of my early life in Gloucestershire and I am anxious to get the details right.
Thanks, Dave Tigwell.

It’s the best available candidate, but there’s no way I can see to confirm.

Meanwhile on G-ANON

Hello Moggy C,

I’m not sure it was G-ARNF because there was only one occupant in that one. The boys at Classic were sure there was a woman in it as well. They said, of course, that Mr Tuck was entertaining his girlfriend with low level aerobatics but she could have been on the ground, looking up. I tried to find the report in the Gloucester newspapers archives without success.
The AAIB archives do not go back that far and in any case they never give the pilot’s names.

I helped rebuild a Cub G-BBYB, but at the same time I was helping rebuild a Tiger Moth G-ANON (I suspect) I have asked on Historic, but without any help.
Can anyone shed light on G-ANON history around ’78-’81, I know who the owner at the time and I think he has passed away. Did she have an accident around this time?
Or was it a major check/rebuild that needed doing? I was working at Hornet Aviation at Sherburn upon Elmet at the time.
At the time it was just another job to do, it’s just recently I have wondered which Tiger I was working on.

Or does anyone have a website I can search the history of an a/c or ideally a registation? I have tried on my friend Google but it confused me even more. Thanks.

Dave.

Was it G-ARNF (The next registration to my old Piper Colt G-ARNE)?
