how many of you have experienced a flight in an Airbus A310??? Thos who have…have to agree with me, dreadful a/c. Even a 5 hrs flight on it i recon as a punishment. so cramped, stuffy and just doesent gives you that feeling of space. While all countries are taking them out of there service, Air India here is acquiring them into there fleet, so i’ll se more of them. What do you think on the A310???

RE: A310
767 may be bigger. But better????????
Isn’t that a bit like saying Cheddar is better than Gouda?

RE: A310

RE: A310
don’t think so…
I flew a Swissair A310 about 10 years ago, ZRH-LHR-ZRH.
Don’t remember much about the a/c itself, but as far as I can recall, I didn’t have any problems with the flight.
As has been said, it does depend on seat pitch mainly, how comfortable you feel on any given a/c.

RE: A310
I have flown A310’s from KLM, Lufthansa and Emirates.
the A310 is as (un)comfortable as an A300, it is only a matter of length and I think you only see the difference at row 35 or beyond…
The comfort of a plane is more due to cabin lay-out, etc which is entirely due to the airline.
The A300/310 have a less roomy feeling compared to the newer A330/340 and I believe this is due to the fact that Airbus raised the windows a little bit which give a better sense of light and space.

RE: A310
I agree with Keltic.
Confort is a matter of legroom , layout , noise and …… crew members.

RE: A310
Got the May edition of Airliner World through this morning and it’s got loads about A300/A310… definitely worth a read!

RE: A310
i agree with Keltic and Mongu, but i took in consideration the fuselage leangth+width of the A310. Also the A310 cannot be compared with B767, B767 is bigger and better.

RE: A310
Yes I agree with Mongu and Keltic. Its not dependant on the a/c itself in terms of space and immediate passenger comfort. (Comfort may be jeperdised if the plane were falling to bits though!!)
I have not had the pleasure of flying on an A310 or An A300 for that matter. However it is fairly clear that in comparison to (eg-)the A320 or A330, the A310 has not been as successful.

Benair

RE: A310
The level of confort depends on the configuration not the plane itself.

RE: A310
I don’t think the comfort level has anything to do with the type of aircraft. 15 year old A310 = same comfort as 15 year old 767 I’d say.
It has more to do with the airline and the class.
I only flew A310 once, with KLM in the late 80’s. But that was straight from a MEA Boeing 720 and it seemed heavenly by comparison!

RE: A310
Being cramped on an aircraft is pretty standard these days, but having not flown one one, I wouldn’t know about how stuffy it gets or how small it seems etc.

RE: A310
A310 cabin is very short and cramped, A300 is much more spacious.

RE: A310
I’ve never flown it, have flown the A300 with Monarch Airlines to Alicante before though. I loved that, there was a feeling of space and comfort and I’d have thought with them being from the same family (300/310) they’d be very much alike on the inside (except of course the cabin would be shorter)!!
