One of our local TV stations posted this on their website…a still photo feature on the Spitfire replica kits being made by the Supermarine company in Texas.

As for the Mosquito (ish) – I agree, it too has no place in Historic; I cant comment on why it stayed there.
I can only speak for myself in that I didn’t move the ‘Mosquito’ as, although it is not in any way historic, neither is it GA, in the sense of an aircraft your average PPL is likely to be able ever to own or fly
To my mind the Mosquito is a tribute band, the Spit 26 a karaoke.
But I left the Mk26 thread where it was on the strength of the historic images in the slideshow.
There’s no right answer, just opinion.

Ugh,
It was a simple, spur of the moment decision. The ‘Spitfire Mk 26’ is a GA aircraft pure and simple. In fact, the pictures show that very well indeed – I know the Spitfire upside down and back to front, having worked on well over a dozen of the real thing. Not mine maybe, but…
I like to think – and am generally supported in this, that I have a very open mind. Having reflected on the decision, I still think this is the appropriate place for it. The poor captioning in the photo montage perhaps pushed me to it – ‘Authentic replicas’ – I think not.
As for the Mosquito (ish) – I agree, it too has no place in Historic; I cant comment on why it stayed there.

Like I said it’s called moderation, the peeps who do this do it free of charge, in their spare time with no thanks.
No moderator will get it right all of the time, I know I have done it, rightly and wrongly. The best thing I did was to give it up!
Mods are human, please bear that in mind.

I don’t often agree with J Boyle but I see double standards here this replica (not full sized) gets moved here but the French Abortion(even smaller) and it has got a couple of threads in historic and it is neither a mozzie or historic.

If you look at many of the other threads in historic, this has about as much right to be there as many others.
I thought some of the Spitfire fiends might find this interesting…and since no one come to the GA thread….I though Historic would be a better place.
Have Moggy take a look at this…he has a half way open mind.

Indeed not – so I’ve moved it to a new home here in General.
Not quite sure what an ‘authentic replica’ actually is. It certainly bears no relation to a ‘real’ Spitfire.
