Unruly Passenger cancels US domestic flight

A Delta Air Lines jetliner has aborted takeoff from Boston’s Logan International Airport.

This was because of an incident involving an unruly passenger, an aviation source said.

The flight to Orlando, Florida, was getting ready to depart the terminal gate when a male passenger, who was not identified, said he did not want to fly.

The incident was one of the latest in a spate of air-security alerts following the September 11 attacks.

The Delta passenger apparently made a statement to the captain that could have been interpreted as a threat to the safety of the aircraft, the source said.

The 118 passengers aboard the Boeing 737 were evacuated and the plane towed to a remote part of the airport. Bags were unloaded on the tarmac and the aircraft searched by bomb-sniffing dogs.

Security is a particularly sensitive issue at Logan Airport, where hijackers boarded two planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center.
