Cirrus pull over Gloucestershire.

I wonder do the owners of the garden get to keep it?

Good news though that all are safe.

It was a while back, but I seem to recall the main certification issue was the avionics, not the BRS

”2, How long has this been certified for use in the UK ? I remember seeing a documentary some years ago, where they
showed it being demonstrated in the US, but said it wasn’t certified for use in the UK yet.”

May not be relevant as the Cirrus was US registered looking at the picture.

Two questions on this.

1, Is the Cirrus the only type to use this system in the UK ?

2, How long has this been certified for use in the UK ? I remember seeing a documentary some years ago, where they
showed it being demonstrated in the US, but said it wasn’t certified for use in the UK yet.

As an aside, I believe model aircraft over a certain size in the US have to have a similar device fitted ?
Can anyone confirm this ?

Yes the tomahawk was yesterday. I heard this evening that they are both in hospital still but the injuries are now not thought to be life threatening, so there is some positivity there as things didn’t look so good yesterday.

That last photo of the aircraft descending under the parachute must have been an unreal sight. Glad he’s ok..

Glad he is okay.

I heard about the Cranfield one yesterday, last I heard the two on board were in a serious condition. Has that changed?

The Echo seems to think that the pilot jumped and used his own parachute. :highly_amused:

And another crash at Cranfield today. Hope the injuries are not serious.

While I’ve known for some time that the Cirrus has the facility to deploy a parachute as an alternative to a traditional forced landing, is this the first time that the system has been deployed in the UK?
