Stolen plane crashes, 3 killed.

Aircraft was a PA.30 with three occupants. ‘I think they were just looking for a thrill and they had their last one’ the sheriff said. 🙁

I wonder if there were any other factors involved.

Assuming the pilot didn’t have any licence it was pretty irresponsible to give a teenager the keys to a multi-engine aircraft. I could almost understand if it was a Piper Cub but a twin? Loss of an engine and a non-trained pilot would be in a world of trouble.

Still waiting to see if ‘other factors’ are involved, i.e. alcohol or drugs. 😉

Possibly being egged on or wanting to look good in front of his mates-peer pressure possibly coming into play.

I once saw a plate fixed to the instrument of a small private plane at Shoreham in the 1960’s bearing the legend “Aeroplanes bite fools”. Every plane should have one.

What was airport security doing??

At many small airports, the “security” is a locked hangar.

It’s a shame the owner had false trust in the boy.

What was airport security doing? Or, was the airfield so small they had no one on site to see three teens jump in and fly off in a plane?

Wonder if giving someone the key affects any insurance claim. It does for your house or car I believe.

I dont know the full situation so I will refrain from comment but I have similar feelings to that of Tony.

Just goes to show when you think you can fully trust a kid give them the keys and then they go and do something stupid like this.

Kind of doesnt make you want to trust anyone.

I feel for the owner, both for the loss of his aircraft and knowing he gave him the key, what away to repay his trust, as for the kids, a bit like the idiot that jumped off the ferry…i feel nothing, they took the risk and have paid the consequences.. Sorry if that seems harsh, but if you want to dance with the devil… expect to pay the price….
