I stay in Hermanus, a beautiful seaside town in the Western Cape, South Africa
We’ve had some fires in the mountains the past week and fire fighters with the help of helicopters put the fire fire out
Today, this Bell UH came past over the sea, lower than the rooftops on his way back to base
Awesome sound from quite far away, time enough to grab the camera

I just love aircraft and aircraft related photos

Worked somewhere once that had Apaches -Black Hawks and CH-47s galore!
Nothing made people stop working more than an ‘aggressor’ UH-1H dropping in for a fuel stop ! Sadly those days are now over!

One that had a nice large fixed wing either side and no silly fan on the top.

Wessex & CH-34
The VC loved the CH-34, as it only had a defending mg on the right side.
They stayed under cover on the right side of the a/c, but opened up with ground fire on its left side knowing it could not defend itself!
Which helicopter would you rather be in?
One where you can defend yourself left & right OR Blind on one side!

Bell 212 for me 😎 As for the Wessex, I always felt it was like flying a council house from the upstairs bog…:diablo:

Moggy iirc is no fan at all of helicopters, but likes the Huey. That is all.

The Good Widow Mrs Jones
“If” its ZU-LCY (ex N464CC) than in its previous life it was UH-1D 65-9777, assigned to the 121st AHC in Soc Trang in 1968, RVN.
Painted on the nose was “The Good Widow Mrs Jones” with Tigers heads on both pilots doors..

Great photo. It’s always nice to see civil helicopters in action.
But to be accurate, it’s a Bell or Agusta Bell 205A.
It would only be a UH-1H if it was ex-U.S. Army or some military.
