vickers viscounts

OK fellow enthusiasts I am a new member to this forum, and was wondering if anyone has any information on the last few Viscounts that operated for BAF at southend, I understand 3 of them went to South Africa but I can not trace them in my airlines book, I have done a search on most airlines in Africa and drawn a blank. I just wanted to know what happened to Viscount 806 G-APEY and any others.
any info would be much appreciated.

Never got to fly on one and am really gutted about that.

I managed five flights 🙂 3 between GLA and EDI ( G-AOHG , G-AOYG and G-APKF) and one return between GLA-LPL both on G-ATDU ! 😉

Ah a seat from the Freightmaster.

Just think JBB that may have been the very seat where they forgot to wizz the wheels down at Belfast, and wrote it off!

Well, I have found the seat to be soooooo comfortable! Maybe thats why they forgot 😀

Hi all.

Does anyone know what state the Viscounts are in at Tenerife

I saw the Viscounts at Los Rodeos in the early 90’s apparently just sitting there. Googling for them last year, I could only see one which had moved to east of the terminal.

RE: vickers viscounts

Hi there,

I did a work exp at a local Heliport, and the operting company was known as Helijet Aviation. They concentrate on helicopter leasing but they bought APEY from BAF and operted it for a couple of years – i believe it was based at EMA but was regularly seen at LBA as the company operated from a heliport about 400m away
