Just had a look today at the new terminal building at Liverpool Airport. It is not wholly complete yet but already you can see it is a massive improvement on the old building, which was originally constructed by the old Merseyside County Council and opened in 1986. This building has been extended to try and cope with increase in passengers over the years, but basicly it had seen it’s day and was unable to cope ( 2.25 million pax used LPL in 2001).
The new building is altogether different, its huge compared to the old building, very bright, airy and lots of space. If you are in the area its well worth a look, especially if you know what the old terminal was like. At the moment, as far as I could see there is no spectators area, however this may alter as time goes on and the rest of the buliding is opened to the public.
i will try and keep this column updated.
