Regional Airliners

What is the best jet regional airliner? What is the best prop regional airliner? My money is on the BAe 146/Avro RJ series and the Saab 340/2000 series respectively.

The Avro RJ/146 is the best regional jet, the best regoinal prop is the F27/50. I cannot comment on the Dash or ATR.

I usually end up in the big jets, but I like the Dash 8 because it has a lot of legroom. I was in a BWIA Tobago Express Dash 8 for a return Tobago – Trnidad journey in August.

yup…give me the BAe 146 any time…best jet regional carrier ever. I havent sat in many props. only ATR 72 and Do 228 from which of course ATR 72 is much better.

Most succesful prop must be the F27/F50. Don’t know how it is outside Holland, but I see a lot more F50’s than I see Dash’s.

The best jet is probably the ARJ.

RE: Regional Airliners

Perhaps the Q8-400 is less noisy than older Dash models. Saab 2000 is good plane, it can fly at FL30 (as well as Do 328)

RE: Regional Airliners

I agree that the BAe 146/Avro RJ are the best regional jet aircraft,as they can take off and land on very short runways, and they are enviromentally acceptable in terms of noise. Many airports such as LCY would not exist without the aircraft.
Best prop regional aircraft would have to be the Dash 8,the most successful regional aircraft in the world, with around 400 in service around the world. It is fuel efficint and is spacious.I am not a big fan of the Dash 8,travelled on one in september, very noisy inside.

Regards Saab 2000
