I had been looking forward to my trip to CDG,but when i arrived at CDG aeorgare 1 i was very dissappointed at the condition of the terminal and the facilities.
I noticed that the satellites (i was at sat 5)seemed pretty tacky with old chairs and little decoration. The main terminal i thought was ugly,a large brown circular building.Inside it was cramped and there was a lack of seating, although i got checked in pretty quick.Upstairs where you went through security had few shops, only around i would think 30 which compared to LHR or LGW is very poor,1 cafe and a restraunt upstairs with quite good views of T2.I was hoping to buy a whole load of aircraft goods but there was no models, books ect.
Viewing was alright out of the satellites,i saw SQ,LH,AH,BA,EI,OA,AF and many others.Unfortunately tthis was from a distance so i didn’t get many registrations.
What are your opinions?

Also i was lucky enougth to try BA’s Deli service, yummm.Tuna sandwich with lemon mayonaise and a chocolate bar plus a large cup of tea.The food was nice and simple and i really liked the idea of having your meal in a bag,not as messy as a tray.

not being anti towards other European airports,i think that there are some great airports out there,Brussels,Schiphol ect.But give me good old LGW and LHR any day.Great viewing area’s and aviation shops.A good selection of restraunts/cafes and some very good shops to pass the time.

I agree, CDG is not a patch on other airports. I was in terminal 2, and the photo and video opportunities were non-existant owing to the dreadful lack of viewing areas. That terminal was poorly served for shops and restaurants. Give me Brussels or Heathrow or LAX anyday.

There is a difference between CDG1 and CDG2.
Cdg 1 was built in the 60′ and is awaiting a major rehabilitation till 2003. The work will start propably this year. Thats the main reason why the quality of service isnt so good.
Theres even a difference inside CDG2. CDG2B is the worst!

Unfortunately to get the best at CDG you have to do a lot of walking,I found the best position was where the regional jets terminate ,but there isnt any shelter there . I was there at the beginning of august and made quite a few new and different aircraft and airlines ,other than that ,yes ! CDG is dissapointing.

It’s ages since I’ve been at Terminal 1 at CDG, so I can’t really comment.
Terminal 2A seemed a bit cramped to me, but 2F is very airy, lots of glass, not bad shopping.
As to the All Day Deli. No. Don’t like it, and no one I’ve talked to has, either. And I’ve taken it up with a lot of BA f/a’s, and they say they don’t like it, and they haven’t heard any pax commend it, either.
