Rotax Engine Thermostats

Can anyone please help ? In an attempt – and recommended by Rotax – to improve both the speed of warm up and achieve the correct operating temperatures of the engine oil and coolant in a 80hp four cyl. Rotax, we’ve just fitted thermostats to both.

With an OAT ranging from +8C to +10C and different stages of flight, we’re finding it difficult to get above 100C for both systems. Correct temps. should be oil: 110C – 120C, coolant: 105C – 115C. In addition we have also fitted small sheets of plexiglas to the front of the oil cooler and coolanr rad.

Anyone any ideas? Does anyone have particular experience of Rotax thermostats ?
