RE: whats the best airline and aircraft you have flown

I doubt the A340 is the narrowest widebody cabin. I find it fantastic. I prefer it for longhaul over the Atlantic or other place with no alternative airports than the twin engines ones. I find the B777, nice but not as the A340. If you put an engine at the back and redesign the tail resambles a DC-10 or L1011. The engines are too big. I donΒ΄t know what would it happen to the wing structures if one exploded. Just an oppinion.

the first aircraft i flew was the 767-300 and that is a better cabin than the a340-300 atleast for its size its not as cramped as the a340 2-3-2 is better than 2-4-2

The 777-200 is the best plane i have flown on. I also like the A319 of BA πŸ™‚

Thai are the best airline i have flown with, organised and friendly with clean aircraft.

You’ve obviously not been on a Boeing 767 then. As nice as the aircraft is, I class the 767 as a ‘pretend widebody’. Having flown on both the Boeing twin and the A340, the latter wins hands down.

RE: whats the best airline and aircraft you have flown

Well, i if i had to be on any plane (since i am not an international traveler yet i will list my favorite domestics, it would probaly be the A319, or the 767. The reason i picked the A319 is becuase in my view it is a ‘super 737.’ Great seats, great leg room, tv’s (don’t get that on a 737!) and roomy aisles. That is only in coach. 767, to me, one of the best auronautical designes planes-ever, for pilots and for passengers. I live in jackosnville, fl. and they operate delta flights on md-80, 767, and 757. Now you know that one of those 767’s when it gets to atlanta, heads right across the atlantic in a few hours, making it very versitaile. From a passengers standpoint, it is one of the roomiest delta aircraft around. delta’s md-11 is VERY packed in, i read how you said the 2-5-2 configuration was bad…i know the md-11 has that..pretty miserable, but it didn’t look to bad up front at all.Oh, yeah, my least favorite aircraft-Md-80- its like a japanese car, it says you can fit 5, but you’re lucky if you can fit 2!

About airlines, i am a longstanding Delta flyer. And on occasion usair (because i have family in philadelphia and i take the nostop a few times a year). Now, if you have flown them, you probably realize, they both need work! Delta is notorious for delays, but has a pretty spotless satey record. And usair has pretty good saftey, but pretty bad service people…but then again when i travel, i always get screwed, so maybe thats just me.

But, my favorite airline is probably midway (although you probably just noticed how they filed Chapter 11)when i flew direct from jax-rdu, those Bombardier CRJ’s were very nice, with thier all-leather interior, and the flight attendan’t gave hot-towels. Plus their is more legroom on this plane that even the big boys. Not to mention Midway’s Valet Check, where since there is not a lot of room in the overheades, you give them the bag at the gate, they give you the green tag, and at the other end, they give you the bag at the gate! it was pretty cool.

RE: whats the best airline and aircraft you have flown

I have a few reactions to some of these posts, and then I’ll get to the questions at hand. As far as the A340 being too narrow, how do you figure? Last time I checked, it is a wide-body. As far as the person who said the 777 is the worst aircraft he’s flown in, I certainly hope it wasn’t because of the lack of a ‘smooth ride.’ As technologically advanced as that plane is, I don’t think that should have been a problem. Perhaps it’s because he had to sit in “the seat from hell,” which for those of you who don’t know, is the middle seat in a 2-5-2 seating arrangement. If I had to sit in that, especially on a long flight, I’d probably hate that aircraft as well. As for Air New Zealand, I flew them LAX-SYD last year, and the service was supurb. Their economy class seat was by far the best economy seat I’ve ever flown on. Considering they have narrow seat backs and foot rests, it makes a 14 hour non-stop flight much more comfortable. I’m flying them business class next week. If I ever fly on one of their 767’s, I’ll have to see if the seats are dirty.

As far as my favorite aircraft, I’d have to say the L1011. Sadly, Delta recently retired their last example. I flew on TWA’s L1011’s in the 70’s and 80’s when I was a kid. The plane was clearly ahead of its time in terms of technology. I also like the 727. It’s a classic aircraft. Right now, I’d have to say the 777 is my favorite for a variety of reasons. If I ever fly on the A340/A330, I’m sure I’ll be able to add them to the list, as well. The best airline I’ve ever flown on is by far Austrian Airlines. I recently flew them between LHR and Greece via Vienna, Athens on the way there, and Thessaloniki on return. On 4 short segment (slightly over an hour in length) I was served a full meal, with fresh baked rolls constantly distributed throughout. Flight attendants were very friendly, and wore striking all red uniforms(the females at least).

RE: whats the best airline and aircraft you have flown

LAST EDITED ON 22-08-01 AT 00:58Β AM (GMT)[p]Recently i flew 3 flights in one day!!!!!! Sabena 737-500 Manchester to Brussels, Sabena A330-200 Brussles to Chicago, and American Airlines Md-82/83 Chicago to Orlando. They were all good flights, although the 737 was a little dirty on the outside when i looked at it from the lounge at Manchester. I have to say, the A330-200 was the best plane ive ever flown on. I could not believe how quiet it was, and the personal video screens at every seat were fantastic. I kept switching between a film and the moving map display to see where we were. The food was good i thought, but i love airline food anyway. (freak) The only problem was the legroom. It wasnt me that had the problem, but my 6’3 friend. On the return flight he sprawled into my foot compartment so that was not too comfortable.

AA were fantastic on the legroom department, mainly because of their policy to remove a row of seats from each plane. Their food was good too. They have strange system where-by you pick up a lunch bag before you get on the plane. Never heard of that 1.

Both the airlines were good, but the A330 was phenomenal. The Md-82/83 wasnt bad either.

RE: whats the best airline and aircraft you have flown

There is only one aircraft type that I have flown in and disliked, and that’s the Boeing 737. I loved the 747, 727, MD80, Fokkers 27 and 50, DC9, Avro RJ and A320. A 767 I once went on was dirty and the seats literally falling apart, but that is the fault of the airline (Air New Zealand) and does not make the 767 a bad aircraft. My two favourite airlines are Air France and SABENA, closely followed by Finnair. I detest Air New Zealand and I am not keen on Icelandair.

The two best airlines that I have travelled on and which I liked the most of all are British Airways and Emirates… I think that both of them are fantastic.I like Emirates for it’s service and multinational cabin staff, and I like Britsh Airways for it’s modern planes and great flight attendants.Lifthansa is also a good airline in it’s own right. The best plane I have flown with is the Boeing 777 … it is an amazing aircraft. After that, I would say I like the Airbus 300 and Airbus 310 series, although I would like to try out the A 330-340 SERIES.

I remember Ross Gunn, One minute he was an Airtours Pilot, next an air traffic controller at Glasgow offering to take every1 to the tower.

I think British Airways is brilliant, in fact I’m flying with them on Wednesday. I am going to Tobago with them flying from Manchester via Gatwick. In a 737(domestic) and 777.

And also I am unsure as to whether my favourate aircraft is the 744 or the 777, probably I think the aircraft is great.

The A340 has to be the best aircraft I’ve been on, completely opposite to your opinion.
I haven’t flown on the 777 but my dad says its the worst plane hes ever flown on!

Out of the airlines meantioned I’d have to say Virgin, BA are poor and I haven’t really been on many of ther others.
