I don´t really think it´s a good idea naming Liverpool airport John Lennon airport. I liked Beetles and John Lennos but Liverpool (I love it) is something more than Beetles. Do you imgine how silly would it sound……Cunard Airport, Unilever airport of even Speke Hall airport……Liverpool airport sounds much better. I don´t like airports with people´s names. It´s quite megalomanic.

Maybe Newcastle should change to Gazza International or Jack Charlton International Airport? Hehe

I think we may see more of this, I also believe there are probably more benefits with the name change for the city of Liverpool from a tourism point of view

Well I think that it is a bit of a strange tribute to this great man, but a nice thought nevertheless. Think about CDG airport, Paris. This is an airport named after a man who bottled himself and fled to England during WWII, afterwards having condemned the British (who allowed him to set up parliament in the UK) This guy was also a racist. An unworthy dedication if ever I heard one. …….Yeah, John Lennon Airport is’nt so bad after all perhaps…….. I reckon John would have been proud…

I couldnt agree with you more regarding the renaming of Liverpool airport,I think John Lennon himself would be very cynical about it

RE: Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Liverpool is my local airport, im unsure about the name change myself, however I do think it is a good marketing idea for the airport and Liverpool to attract people outside the UK, such as USA and Japan who are very keen on The Beatles. There are many airports in the USA named after famous people “John Wayne” “JFK” and now I understand “Louis Armstrong” for New Orleans.
I wonder what Paul Mccarkney thinks about Liverpool John Lennon Airport ?
