This small airliner has recently sparked my interest as I saw them for the first time when I went to the Florida Keys in April and then again when I went to Europe (got back a few days ago- England and France). I really like the way it looks (especially in Northwest and British Airways colors). It seems to be a great aircraft because over 50 different airlines have them. I prefer the RJ100 because I like the longer fuselage, but the RJ85 is neat too. The RJ70 looks kinda stumpy but it is still cool. I can’t really say what aspect of the plane I like, I just like it. One of the things I wonder about are all of its competitors. Surely the commuter/short-haul airliner market is very large. I guess the Fokker 100 would be one. Comments on the RJ are welcome, I just wanna know what others think about it.

I think the BAe 146-300 and RJ100 can be 6×6 if the 128 max is carried. (very rare)

I made a real mess of that posting above, I don’t know what I was thinking about saying about the five abreast seating, I know it’s FOUR ABREAST. Ignore the bit about the MD82 resemblence, but I am reminded of the Fokker 50 by the interior layout of the Avro RJ.

LH Cityline configuration is a nice leather 2×2 seats and plenty of space for a hot meal.

I have only flown on one of these aircraft, it belonged to SABENA. I found the interior something like a cross between an MD82 (for the five abreast layout) and the Fokker 50, for the cramped appearance of the interior. The one big advantage of this aircraft is the high wings, which did not obstruct the view too much, and its quietness. They are quite decent for flights of around one hour, but I wouldn’t want to spend much longer on one. You never seem to get a proper hot “meal” on these aircraft either.

I did Delhi-Thimpu(Bhutan) on Druk Air. Pretty good aircraft for its size i must say.

I am a steward with crossair and am fortunate to work on this plane 100%.
It is very good to work in and travel both as crew and passenger. The view from the cockpit during take off and landings is amazing. The seats in this company are bigger and made of leather which give the plane a bigger than normal look. Because the wings are above the plane it also handles better during take off, landings and in turbulance.

RE: BAe 146/Avro RJ
My only flight was with a SN RJ85 on the flight Naples – Brussels. I really enjopyed the trip, even if i was ill! Splendid bird. I just completed it as model aircraft (sadly it isn’t my best one..)
BTW does anybody have pics of the OO-DJV? (Others than the ones on Airliners.net)
Regards,
Frank

It´s nice indeed. Reliable, smooth, quiet, powerful and confortable. I flew on DanAir, Lufthansa, Pauknair, Air UK, Debonair and I love it.
