in 1988 a young Joseph Connaugh, who was at the time living in Amsterdam, was apparently approached by someone with a knife. He claimed in his autobiography that he punched his assailant, described as a drug addict, in the face, pushed him in a canal and might have killed him.
Yesterday he was detained at Heathrow using his stage name, CJ De Mooi, because the Dutch police wish to extradite him for possible manslaughter or murder.
He is perhaps best known for appearing as one of the BBC2 quiz Eggheads panelists.
