Reality TV stars to be banned on reality TV?

Let me make this clear: so much of what is on TV at the moment appears to pander to the lowest common denominator of mass appeal that it is pointless watching most of the channels available at peak viewing time. There are no reality shows on that I would bother turning the tele on for, let alone watch, especially when the vast majority of them seem to attempt to make stars out of people who desperately want to be on TV rather than those who deserve to, or even have the base for a talent to be built on. This is just my view and, to borrow a theory utilised by John Green whenever he can, the view of all sensible people not just across Britain but across the world.

Anyway.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here is set to ban reality television stars, according to reports.

Ahead of the show’s return in November, it has been claimed that the show’s bosses are keen to attract “credible” names to the show and will omit reality TV stars from the line-up.

Over the past few years, stars from The Only Way Is Essex, Made in Chelsea and Geordie Shore have all appeared on the show in the Australian outback.

Last year, former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison, 28, was last year’s Queen of the Jungle.

She beat X Factor contestant George Shelley, 23, and The Only Way Is Essex’s Ferne McCann, 26, who finished second and third.

Other reality stars who have appeared on I’m a Celebrity… include Towie’s Mark Wright, 29, Joey Essex, 26, and Gemma Collins, 35, and Made in Chelsea’s Hugo Taylor, 30, and Spencer Matthews 27.

Firstly, have any of you heard of any of the names above? If they were all gathered in the jungle together and fatally fell into a pit of hungry crocodiles would any of us care?
I suspect not.

Secondly…CREDIBLE? Surely ‘credible’ and ‘reality’, with regard to television shows, are not two words that go together?
