Surprised no one picked up on this story from yesterday….glad all OK
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/8578999.stm

A light aircraft has crashed in a field in Essex but the 49-year-old pilot walked away unhurt, police said.
The ambulance service called police to the scene of the crash in the field off Buckhatch Lane, near Rettenden, at lunchtime on Sunday.
The area was cordoned off for police to investigate the crash of the Marchetti aircraft which remains in the field.
A police spokesman said the pilot had taken off from nearby North Weald airfield in Essex just before landing.
The pilot was checked over by ambulance staff at the scene.

That old thread should please Mike Currill!:)
You know me too well:D To my way of thinking the 260 is the aircraft the Bulldog could have been with disappearing legs.

YakRider. Thank you for that confirmation. For you my only photo of race 44 …
Keith.

Number One
Keith
Correct. The reigning air race champion each year uses the Race Number 1. People can choose their own numbers. The Bulldog I fly is Race 44.

A little googling reveals that the AFZ converted 8 SF260’s to turboprop !
By: bazv - 4th April 2010 at 10:50
I was using ‘it’ for that particular a/c,it had a turboprop engine fitted as a local mod.
The other Genets at that time (1983) all had the original engine
By: Newforest - 4th April 2010 at 10:41
It? According to Wiki, they had 49 delivered!

Yes a lovely little a/c,shame the RAF never got them – I believe that they wanted them but got bulldogs instead !!
The zimbabwe tp260 was a local conversion and (certainly at that time) the airframe had not been updated which is why it could exceed vne during the climb…I sometimes wonder what happened to it ??

The Turbine version made what i thought a great appearance in Quantom of Solace! 😀
The SF260 has been around for a long time now, but its design is kinda timeless isnt it?
Looks as modern now as it did, what 30yrs ago??
By: mike currill - 3rd April 2010 at 22:23
Why does that not surprise me? A slippery little thing.

Here you are then Mike
Circa 1983 in zimbabwe – locally converted turbo prop SF260 with Hawk T60

the SF260 could exceed its vne in the climb !!

All pics of SF260’s in flight are good pics. Can you tell I have a soft spot for the type?
By: bazv - 3rd April 2010 at 20:16
That second pic is a beaut Keith 😀

YakRider. Is it the same as auto and motorcycle racing, whereby only a reigning champion can use the No 1 ?
Couple of photos from North Weald April 09 same aircraft taking off to win the air race !
Keith.

I’ve read a flight test on that little beauty and apparently it flies as good as it looks.

Another SF.260 damaged by “in proper” canopy rigging ??
Mr Frati newest flying design is the Golden Car F.30, please have a look at the following url.

But of course, do you honestly expect anything less from Stelio Frati? I certainly don’t, in fact if I hear of a new Frati design I know before I see it that it is going to be beautiful.

One beautiful looking plane!:)

Canopy became detached and hit the fin – hence the forced landing. This aircraft was the British Air Racing Champion last year and had just been repainted.
A pic from when it first came over from the US.

Well he is screwed, took me nigh on 6 months to get an upper nose leg casting out of the factory for one….. he has got more chance of flying without an aircraft than getting spares for it…….
