Stupid Sky News trying to stir up a hornets nest.
A TV journalist has shocked viewers around the world with a report on the apparent lack of security at country church in the wake of a terrorist attack in France that left a priest dead.
Martin Brunt was trying to explain that precious little had been down to bolster security at houses of worship in the days since two men stormed a church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, slitting the throat of priest Father Jacques Hamel, 86.
“Since the terrorist murder of a priest in France, things have changed. Or have they?” the Sky News reporter ominously asks his audience as he walks into an English church.
On his way inside, he notes a conspicuous lack of security guards and, incredibly, a sign declaring “everyone is welcome”.
He emerges shortly afterwards, informing the audience that there were about a dozen worshippers and a priest inside.
“If I was a terrorist, I could have killed them all,” he declared.
We really are missing a trick here: this afternoon I was in my local Tesco and, other than the usual CCTV and an elderly security guard who happily laughs and jokes with visiting kids, security was lax – if I had been a terrorist, armed to the teeth and weighed down with explosives, I too could have killed them all.
But I am not a terrorist, like near as damn it 100% of the population, so what good did this do in the war on terror? Just high light that a terrorist is a threat that could appear at any moment anywhere and that WE SHOULD ALL BE SCARED STIFF OF THE POTENTIAL FOR SOMEBODY TO CREEP UP BEHIND US AND WHISPER BOO!
