When I was a kid I used to make my own gunpowder fueled rockets and I can see how this could carry over into adulthood/second childhood….this rocket, a replica of the Saturn V that carried the Apollo landers into orbit was built of aircraft grade plywood and and lauan plywood coated in fiberglass and powered by nine motors resulting in a 7g liftoff. The rocket reached an altitude of 4441′ and broke a slew of world records. It was built in a garage in Ohio and was entirely privately funded. It was fully recovered and NASA plans to display it at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala, beneath the real McCoy. Fantastic engineering IMHO.
