In Oosterbeek, the Netherlands, the Dreijeroord Hotel is under threat. The Hotel was used as HQ by the 7th King’s Own Scottish Borderers during the Battle of Arnhem. The KOSB’s called it the White House. During the Battle there was very heavy fighting going on in this area of the Oosterbeek perimeter. The Hotel that was rebuild after the war, has been for sale for a couple of years. According to the newspapers, the new owner was developing a plan to return in it into a care home. Last week it became clear that his real intentions are to pull the hotel down and build a new building at this location. It would be very sad to lose another historic building in Oosterbeek. The hotel has been a pilgrimage location for Arnhem veterans since that war. People in Oosterbeek have started an online petition with which you can protest against the plan to demolish the Dreijeroord Hotel:
