Over the last few months we have walked quite a few miles of the former Callander & Oban Railway which was built between 1866 – 80. So many of the old tracks are being tarred over up here – this one is in places – it’s nice to walk them before all vestiges of railway use are wiped out! The photos were taken on the railway line between Loch Lubnaig (near Callander) and Killin.
A few items are left including a piece of Anderson’s Piano which warned of rockfalls –
This is the base of a rockfall warning signal post with still-rotating cable pulley –
Anyone any idea what this would be used for? –
Further up the line we crossed the Glen Ogle viaduct –
