It wasn’t so long ago a 2p hike in Petrol prices would have been met with derision, outrage,
farmers blocking roads, opposition ministers rebelling, housewifes slapping babies etc.
In the last few months Petrol and Diesel has gone up 6-8p a litre.
Why does no one care anymore?

About a year ago it was .99p a litre.
I’ve since seen if for 1.11p a litre in roughly the same area.
Now it’s come down to around £1.6.
.99 to £1.11 thats over 40p a Gallon!
Not a murmour, not a titter.

Barrel price has weakened again, but it takes a while to filter through. Main reason for dropping below £1 per litre was the Christmas fight over shoppers. It always goes back up in the following months. Still a lot of variation depending on where you shop.

Actually, when the pricing changed from gallons to litres was when the difference went seemingly unnoticed…
I can remember my father moaning about the price going up by a penny a gallon, rather than some fraction of a penny, yet when the price goes up by a penny or four then that equates to a helluva lot more since there are more than 4.5 litres (4.54609, in fact) to the old gallon!

But it also dropped dramatically – to under £1 a litre over most of the country for several weeks, after the supermarkets declared a price war around Christmas.
Plus we have a weak pound, which has pushed the price up. And the fuel companies would never miss an opportunity to claw back a few pennies given the chance.

Has the wholesale price of fuel increased?
