My favorite aviation magazine is Aeroplane Monthly. Jets is also very good as well as some special issue magazines. I buy these issues at Barnes and Noble for about $10 a issue or more. Compared to American aviation magazines the writing is superior as well the photographs and the paper quality. USA magazines are cheaper but guess you get what you pay for. What brought these comments on was a notice that my Flight Journal subscription has expired. The paper quality and photo reproduction is poor and don’t know whether to renew at $17 for 6 issues. Also the editor Budd Davidson has just been around too long and I am tired of his writing.

I’m guessing most people on this side of the Atlantic are unfamiliar with US aviation magazines, unless they have access to them via specialist vendors.
My memory of them is not good but what I do recall was that I was unimpressed with their coverage of anything not American, although this might be due to only searching them out a few times. This might not be the case over the course of twelve months.
