I am so sorry, as I am to hear of the death of any fellow-pilot

You can trot out all the trite stuff about ‘They died doing what they loved’ and to some extent that’s true, it sure beats lingering around a hospice whilst a cancer eats your insides away and the nurses change your nappies.

On the other hand, while all of us love flying.. no pilot I know of really loves crashing.

Doubtless you will speak to the relatives, please find time to mention the general / genuine sympathy we all feel.

G-SRII looks like an aircraft, not suggesting this was the victim.

Indeed that has enuf rudder to cope with a strong sidewind at landing.

Having been at Shobdon at the time of the crash I think I should say it didn’t look like a microlight. Me and dad were about to leave to fly home when the crash siren sounded. Seconds earlier dad had seen a aircraft possibly a Tomahawk take off on runway 27. When we left the clubhouse there was a pall of smoke being blown across the airfield from where the aircraft had crashed to the right of 27. The firecrew were there within seconds but they couldn’t do anything as far as I could see.
