The aircraft was Zenair CH601 Zodiac G-BVPL. Sadly, the pilot, David Trueman (65) who lived at Glenmayne, outside Galashiels was killed. The wreckage of the aircraft was shown on Border TV last night being removed by the AAIB to Farnborough.

Engine failure is the likely cause of the crash of the Zenair Zodiac.
